Llandow Newydd will be a sustainable mixed use community, developing and enhancing the existing employment areas
(delivering the allocation within the existing UDP) and creating and enhancing thousands of employment opportunities.
This will be supported by residential development of some 2,750 homes of mixed density including a sizeable element of affordable housing, a full range of services including both an English and Welsh speaking primary school, a village centre and several small 'local centres', a possible park and ride scheme, health and leisure facilities and significant areas of public open space including playing pitches covering some 17 hectares.
The proposals also include provision to retain and enhance 18 hectares of woodland and 'informal open space' of ecological value, together with the retention of as much existing hedgerow as possible. The aim is to protect the amenity of existing ecological and landscape features and to create a positive net gain in biodiversity and character.
In addition, the project is making land and funding available to provide healthcare facilities and, in conjunction with police, fire/rescue and ambulance authorities, would provide necessary premises and facilities to improve local emergency services provision.
