Llandow Newydd embodies the principles of sustainable development and the outline masterplan has been developed based on the desire to create a village with an attractive environment and strong sense of place. It will be designed to reflect the character of surrounding villages and the wider Vale of Glamorgan, within which people can live, work and relax.

The project embraces the use of environmentally sustainable materials, renewable energy and resources, and the development is working towards achieving the Eco-Homes Excellent standard as a minimum requirement for the homes.

Importantly, the development will be centred on the enhancement and expansion of the existing employment areas at the Vale Business Park and the Llandow Trading Estate, in addition to the provision of a main village centre with retail and community facilities and smaller local centres to meet the needs of people living at Llandow Newydd.

This provision of localised services and facilities, which will include education, healthcare and recreation, will reduce reliance on motorcars, and the site will be developed with extensive pedestrian footpaths and cycleways to promote green travel.
